Great time to crochet or knit

Oh boy, has it been wet around our region this last week. My Aussie friends will have seen the news footage just about every time they turned the telly on. The rain has eased off now but the rivers are still rising and many people have been evacuated from their homes because of the floods. In Canberra where I live, we have just had the wettest week in 62 years. There has only been one good thing about it and that is there has been plenty of time to crochet or knit.

I have all but finished the crochet version of the BSJ but am rather disappointed in that when you fold it, the front is longer than the back. Its at the stage where only the edging remains to be done but to be honest, I just don't have the motivation to finish it. Mind you, I will finish it but not right now. It shall lurk in the UFO crate for awhile.

I'm participating in a 7" square swap in one of my crochet groups and my two squares will be winging their way to my partner tomorrow.

The colours aren't quite right in that second pic - for some reason the soft colours don't want to come out right.

While still on squares, I along with members of another of my groups are making these butterfly squares which will be made into a blanket. One of our members is battling cancer at the moment and we are making this for her to donate to the oncology department of the hospital where she is being treated. The square was designed by one of our talented members Jane
I haven't blocked these as yet.

Hats 25 and 26 done - past the half-way mark so 24 to go before the end of June. Yikes .. I'd better get a move on eh?

The sun is shining and its lovely and warm now so I think I'll grab a cup of coffee and sit outside for a dose of vitamin D. Thanks for visiting.

  1. I love both the butterfly square and the first one (and believe I've made the middle one). Are the patterns available somewhere?

Thanks for your sweet comments (always) on my blog. I hope you don't wash away with all that rain you are getting.

  2. The squares are looking good. Wow, I'm impressed by the number of hats you've made. I think all of us in Year of Projects are suddenly realizing how close June is!
