Claudia is finished - Year of Projects update

Another week has flown by and its time for the YoP update. My Claudia scarf is finished, blocked and ready to wear! The yarn was an absolute dream to work with, albeit slow growing as it was 4ply (fingering). It started out as cream coloured Shepherd Baby Wool Merino and was hand dyed by a lovely lady I met awhile back who works at one of the yarn stores in my city. Last Saturday I called in to the shop to show Lillian the final product and asked if she would model it for me.

I find the process interesting and might take up Lillian's offer to dye some more yarn for me in the future.

Another item on my YoP list has also been finished. I love making the Angel Wings dress from the Bev's Country Cottage site (free pattern) and often use it for my charity donations. For this one I used baby 8ply acrylic with a 4.00mm hook.

Until recently I resisted the cake craze but when Lincraft released their second lot of cake yarn which was said to be softer than their original, I caved in and decided to try using it on a Road Trip scarf.

I was quite pleased with how the colour changes worked out with this project and have bought another cake in a different colourway but can't decide what to make at this stage.

Not much else to report - thanks for popping by. I'm now off to visit the blogs of other people taking part in the Year of Projects. If you want to know more, pop on over to Ravelry and see what everyone is doing.

  1. That scarf is so pretty. The way the yarn was dyed is fascinating to me. I have never seen yarn being dyed before. Thanks for the photos. I have several cake yarns and love them is hard to find just the right pattern for them to work with. Thanks for that road scarf link. I adore the angel wing dresses you make. I must put that pattern in my library.

  2. Your scarf looks really great! Congratulations on finishing it! I am also fascinated by the dying process, looks very interesting.

  3. Your projects are all beautiful! I love the yarn Lillian hand dyed....the scarf turned out gorgeous in it! I want to make one just like it!!! The little dress is precious and someone will be so happy! I also want to make the scarf/shawl..I love all your projects and the yarns you use are so pretty. I am a bad copycat but it is a compliment to you and your choice of patterns and yarns and your beautiful workmanship! I can't wait to see what you're up to next! Have a great week!

  4. I love your scarf, the adorable baby dress and the shawl! You're really accomplishing a lot! I'm so slow compared to you! It was fun seeing the dying process.. and the results are fabulous! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  5. Your Claudia scarf is really beautiful, Dorothy. The dye job on the yarn is spectacular. I also love the little baby dress and your Road Trip scarf. I'm actually working with a cake yarn (Caron Cakes) this week to make a triangular scarf, too!

  6. Not much else to report? Oh my you have been so busy and ALL your FO's look amazing. That dye job turned out beautifully. And I love the angel wings baby dress. So so cute.

  8. Hi there, found you whilst bloghopping :)
Beautiful finished objects :) I especially like your road trip shawl made from the yarn cake. I have a few cakes looking for a project, might try that one!
