Year of Projects Update

Goodness me, the start of another week !!  They seem to go by so quickly these days - so much to do and so little time.  I've only actually finished one project this week and it's not on my 'list' but I was inspired by Bev from One Yarn After Another blog to try this pattern that I've had on my WIM list since seeing it on YouTube a few months back.
This is such an easy pattern - here's the link.  The back looks like this ..

I'm still plodding along with that dreadful Noro yarn project - the only good thing I can say about this yarn is that the colours are nice. After starting and frogging about four or five different projects with this yarn I eventually decided on the Baktus scarf and to be honest, will be glad when its done!  I'm not liking this yarn at all.

Do you remember a post or two back, me telling you about my new square knitting needles?  Well, I have to say they are fabulous and I've ordered another three sizes from the seller in USA.  They are made by Kollage, are supposed to be easier on your hands and ideal for people with arthritis, carpal tunnel, or stiffness in their hands and fingers. I don't have any of the aforementioned but these needles are a delight to use and seem to make more uniform stitches.   Oh, that reminds me, I did finish another thing this week - a square baby's hat on my square needles ....
Colour correct in next picture.

If I am ever going to finish my Wool Eater blanket, I need to get on with it !! To motivate myself, I'm aiming to work on it every day (even if its only for a short time) and to post progress pictures here each week.  Please with me luck - this blanket has been a WIP for way too long.

Thanks for visiting

  1. Your shrug is so pretty well done on getting it finished and I hope you get your blanket done and some progress on your baktus as well. I really love the look of your square needles and that is such a cute hat.

  2. I LOVE the shrug, so cute and looks very warm.

I love your wooleater blanket, I have that in my queue but I fear it won't be made this YOP I haven't got anyone to make it for.

I also have the Baktus in my queue, but it seems like a very boring knit so I won't tackle it at the moment

  3. What a darling little jacket! Very pretty!

And your Baktus is looking very nice as well; sorry the Noro is making you miserable.

I'm definitely going to be searching out some square needles to try out. They sound lovely from your description!

  7. Interesting about the Noro yarn. I've never liked the feel of it despite all the rave reviews I see from folks. I think I'll continue to pass! Love your scarf, though. It looks like it's worth the effort even if it is an effort!

  8. The baktus shawl is too pretty. Love it! I know what you mean about the Noro. It's horrible splitty stuff, but it's just so pretty.

  10. I agree with you on Noro.. I will never buy it again. KnitPicks makes similar colors in their Chroma, but it's SOFT and lovely. Adorable pink jacket! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  11. That shrug is so cute. And I love the Noro colours, shame it's a pain to knit with.

  12. I've never used Noro, but thought everyone loved it. You see people using it alot. What don't you like, I've thought about purchasing it often, but it never felt very soft to the touch. Square needles....wow, that's different and makes me scratch my head. I do have carpal tunnel, arthritis etc, so am interested. But have 2 stuffed needle holders full of round needles. Can't imagine the expense of switching.

  13. Trust me MS Dorothy the Noro will soften up with a nice tepid bath in cheap conditioner. I couldn't understand what all the fuss was about the first time I used it, but it does wash up nicely. Now the innumerable knots that they seem to think are acceptable? That's a whole 'nother issue.
